I've seen (and skated) some pretty debatable ramps over the years, but I will admit that most of the time, they're still super fun. That said, there's nothing quite like a perfect mini ramp, for instance—the coping sits nicely, the transition is perfect, the surface is smooth... the list goes on.

If you've ever thought about building a ramp yourself but weren't sure where to start, you're in luck. The pros over at Keen Ramps recently shared a video revealing five crucial (yet oddly common) DIY ramp mistakes that all builders should avoid before diving into that dream project. Take a look:

Now, again, I understand that skateboarding is skateboarding—not everything is going to be perfect, nor should it be. But that doesn't mean these tips aren't super helpful either way. (Especially for you perfectionists out there.) And let's be honest... they make some pretty good points.

This is pretty much the best ramp-building cheat sheet you can get! These dudes know their stuff, to say the least. With over a decade of professional knowledge, they really have tried, built and seen it all. And as they humbly mentioned, they aren't here to keep secrets—if you have the tools, time and resources, get after it.

If anything, let this inspire you to get those DIY juices flowing. Whatever you have in mind doesn't necessarily have to be perfect, but after watching this video, it certainly can be. The dudes at Keen Ramps are legends for doing this either way. Hope this helps and motivates some of you to start drilling away. Happy building!
