Sean Manaea was traded from the Oakland Athletics to the San Diego Padres on Sunday. As fate would have it, those two teams happened to be facing off in a spring training game later in the day.
After the Athletics shipped Manaea to San Diego, the pitcher had the luxury of swapping dugouts and heading over to meet his new teammates. Manaea was in uniform for the game, which also gave him the opportunity to share some funny farewells with his former Oakland teammates, one of whom flung a drink at him.

Manaea was actually scheduled to start the game for Oakland, but after the trade, the Padres kept him on schedule and started him against the A’s instead. The trade was so abrupt that he actually wore his green Oakland glove on the mound.

For what it’s worth, Manaea gave up five hits in 2.2 innings, striking out three in the process.
If it’s any consolation, the Athletics certainly make a lot of sudden trades like this. Manaea’s situation was unique, though.
